Imagine, being trapped in an abusive relationship faced against the fear of being deported from the country. For many women who have immigrated to the United States, this scenario is all too familiar. Domestic abusers often use immigration status to trap their undocumented partners in abusive relationships.
The Trump administration's actions have created a climate in which the fears can fester.
In this first-person narrative we hear Tabaya's story as a Bangladeshi-American domestic violence survivor. She speaks of family, isolation, fear, acceptance and the need to use her voice to help other immigrant victims of domestic violence.
