The recreator of Korea's Goryeo Bulwha paintings, the Ven. Wolje Hyedam 위대한 우리의 문화유산! 고려불화를 복원한, 계태사 월제 혜담스님

The Goryeo dynasty of Korea was a period of intense religious fervor with its people from the rulers to the lowest subjects being ardent believers in Buddhism.
However roughly 90 percent the Buddhist paintings created during that period called Goryeo Hwabul are now in overseas museums or owned by private collectors making it difficult to find them in Korea. For this reason, the Buddhist nun Wolje Hyedam has been re-creating them based on historical records. On Heart-to-Heart we sit down with Wolje Hyedam who's been leading the conservation and popularization of the Buddhist paintings for roughly 40 years.

고려시대 불교문화의 중심에 있는 고려화불. 하지만 현대에 전해져 내려오는 고려불화 대부분이 해외로 유실되어 한국에서는 찾아보기가 힘들다. 700년 동안 단절되었던 고려불화 복원에 힘쓰고 있는 계태사 월제 혜담 스님. 민족문화의 부활을 위해 고려화불만 40여 년간 그리며 보존과 대중화에 앞장서고 있다. 고려문화의 정수라고 불리는 고려불화의 아름다움을 널리 알리고 있는 월제 혜담스님을 오늘 [하트투하트]에서 만나보자.
